As I stated  in my Real Madrid vs Ludogorets post (provided you read all of the posts on this blog) I am a firm believer in bad wins. This was another example as the 4-2 Patriots narrowly squeaked by the hapless 1-5 Jets (also no offense to our new blogger Travis whom I know is a Jets fan). The Patriots have finally opened up offensively in the previous two weeks averaging 40 points per contest. They managed to put up 27 tonight which is solid but giving up 25 and nearly losing the game in the end is not ideal. Tom Brady had his third straight 3 TD 0 INT game which is great considering the run game was inept without Ridley in the lineup. Let’s get to the ratings.

Offense 6: A solid outing overall especially passing and with no turnovers, that’s a big plus. But the run game was never established and the Patriots were out-gained on total yards, 1st downs, Total Plays, and time of possession by a wide margin.

Defense 3: The good here is the 3 sacks and the stopping of the Jets on their 4 FG drives. The bad however is the number of yards given up, the lack of turnovers, and the general allowing of Geno Smith to be comfortable in the pocket. The bad out-weighs the good.

Special Teams 7: Ultimately you could say special teams won the game. 2 made Gostowski FGs and the blocked field goal at the end of the game sealed the victory overall.

A win is a win even if it wasn’t pretty. I apologize I couldn’t provide more analysis since I was only able to watch a quarter of the game since I had to work. Overall it wasn’t a pretty performance and frankly this won’t cut it going forward. There are 9 games remaining on the Patriots schedule: vs Bears, vs Broncos, BYE, @ Colts, vs Lions, @ Packers, @ Chargers, vs Dolphins, @ Jets, vs Bills. You’ll be hard pressed to find an easy game in there so the Patriots best pick it up because the tough part of the schedule begins now.
