**This is an update of the previous post but now with the most recent performance by Real Madrid against Athletic Bilbao. Quinn and I found when we go in and edit our original posts, it doesn’t move that post to the top of the list therefore our readers have no way of knowing the post was updated. So for now this is the idea we are going with despite it not being ideal. If you’re a regular follow of these particular posts, I haven’t changed the wording at all but simply added in the Athletic Bilbao IGP and AO along with a brief description at the end and this trend will continue unless we find another way.
Much like my JMU Football Performance Indicator, I’m going to do the same thing for Real Madrid’s season. This will be a little more difficult as I expect Madrid to win all their games minus a few here and there but this time I will also have to incorporate where I believe there will be draws. Fresh off a double that included La Decima and bringing in some fresh faces I expect Madrid to have a very successful year. However if you go back a little bit in the All’s Fair in Sports and Politics archives, you’ll stumble across my prediction that Madrid won’t win any more trophies this year (that was written after the UEFA Super Cup win). I am still holding true to that despite the recent successes of the club.
If you take a look at my JMU Performance Indicator post, you will see the categories I have laid out in more detail. However, if you don’t particularly feel like closing this post and going to hunt down that one to look up the information and then come back here and promptly forget what you read, I will post it again in here. For this experiment I will start out by predicting whether I think the game will be a win, draw, or a loss before the game which will be tallied as my Initial Prediction (IP). Next I will watch the game and based on how the match goes I will state the In-Game Performance (IGP) as either Win, Draw, or Loss depending on how Madrid and their opponent played. I will then state the Actual Outcome (AO). Based on these three categories I will formulate sub-categories so one can further understand the outcome.
First let’s start with the easy to understand categories. Expected Wins (EW) is where the AO is a Win and it matches up with both the IP and IGP. Second are the Expected Losses (EL) where the AO, IP, and IGP are all losses. Now it gets a little tougher to follow. Quality Wins (QW) are where the AO is a win but only matches with one of the other two categories. Poor Losses (PL) are the opposite where the AO is a loss and it matches up with only one of the two other categories. Finally we have Lucky Wins (LW) where the AO is a win but doesn’t match with either of the other two categories and Horrendous Losses (HL) where the AO is a loss but the IP and IGP are wins. However, unlike with the football one, I now have to create a third set up categories for draws that will be more difficult to understand because it will be based more on the IGP than the IP but I’m going to do the best I can to explain it and if it needs some tweaking we’ll go from there. I will have Expected Draws (ED)-Just like EW and EL, Quality Draws (QD)-where the AO is a draw and the IGP is a win or draw when the IP is a Loss, Poor Draws (PD) where the AO is a draw and the IP and IGP are either win then draw or draw then win, Lucky Draw (LD) is where the AO is a draw and IGP is a loss regardless of the IP, and finally a Horrendous Draw (HD) which will only show up if the AO is a draw and IP and IGP are wins.
So, still confused? No matter maybe the table below will clear things up. Off we go!
**This table will not include any friendlies or preseason games. Also I will update this post as games are played and add some in that I don’t know about yet since the next rounds for Champions League and Copa Del Rey along with FIFA Club World Cup have not been announced yet. As for the games i have listed that haven’t been played yet, I have simply put my prediction for how I feel those games will go. Those may or may not go according to plan but I have given the best guess for how I believe the games will go.

**I’m not entirely sure why the table looks like it does. I will work on fixing it but for now this is how it will look.
Just like the JMU Performance Indicator I will post a short summary of why the IG is what it is and a little summary of the game.
Vs Sevilla- Quality win overall not too many troubles in the game
Vs Atletico Madrid- Not a very good outing pretty much deserved the draw but wouldn’t have been surprised with a loss
@ Atletico Madrid- Worst overall game on the year. IGP was no doubt a loss
Vs Cordoba- Never really challenged but offensively should have been 5-0.
@ Real Sociedad- This was the second worst game so far on the year for Madrid. Can’t go in front 2-0 and lose the game
Vs Atletico Madrid- Can’t seem to figure out our Madrid neighbors. This will need to change
Vs Basel- one of the better all-around performances on the year. This started the turnaround.
@ Deportivo La Coruna- Destroyed Deportivo but that was to be expected though didn’t expect that many goals
Vs Elche- Another very solid all-around game over a lesser team
@Villareal- A great win over a good team on than road plus a shutout. Defensively not a great game but the shutout helps
@Ludogorets Razgard- Not a very good performance at all against a not very ood opponent. That being said, Ludogorets is better than many realized and Madrid must improve from that game.
Vs Athletic Bilbao- Best game so far for Madrid. Bilbao never really had a chance to score. Easy win for Madrid
